runciblemoon So the Hurdy-Gurdy is the obvious draw here, but even with more conventional instrumentation this would be a strong album, full of solid instrumental prog/fusion that pulls influences from a variety of genres with tight, engaging arrangements. The unique sound of the Hurdy-Gurdy is what elevates it to something special, though. Favorite track: The Outsider.

dipdac Desq is the Jimi Hendrix of Hurdy Gurdy, and the prog rock tempos punching through the speakers into my brain gets my heart popping like no double espresso ever could. Favorite track: Transmutation.

Riley Breen I never imagined myself saying the words "that was a sick hurdy-gurdy solo" but I guess there's a first time for everything. Favorite track: Transmutation.

THE ISLAND DOWN THERE She is swimming Rowing with her scales Fumbling under the ocean For months she has flied I, for one, do not know whence She does not know the way It is the way which knows her The same as her grandparent's The same as her forebear's I, for one, do not know how long before that Her destiny is drawing her And her instinct is aiming her Straight ahead Toward the island down there I, for one, do well know thence She is going there to set the life In the big sand nest In order to be born To be born again I, for one, do not know how When she finally get there The shoreline doesn't exist anymore Only rocks remain Gravels and coral I, for one, do well know why These are the people from the earth They destroyed the shore They stole all the sand They stole it, to build I, for one, do not know what ! She turns down to the see Eggs drifting Solely for the predators And the turtle is crying I, for one, do not know whether it is possible To weep in the see To weep in the see

about

Arcane Alchemists Toulouse, France

Like an alchimist concocting his potion, these four sound makers prepare an elixir to listen without moderation. At the crossroad of genres, a music without comparison, that could be called « wheel fusion » or « slide electro-gurdy ».

Yet more much than a musical brew, it’s a journey between places, times, reality and fantasy that cannot leave you unscathed.
